How to prepare for the ADHD (Cognitive Function Test)?
Why is it important to prepare for the test?
A cognitive test (activity and attention disorder) can help assess your or your child’s level of concentration, attention, and impulsivity. In order for the results to be as accurate as possible and reflect the real situation, it is important to prepare properly before the test. Getting enough rest, relieving stress, and avoiding certain substances will help avoid the influence of external factors on the test results.
To prepare, we recommend:
1. Get a good rest before the exam – fatigue and insomnia can affect attention and concentration, which in turn can skew the exam results.
2. Avoid stimulants – Coffee, energy drinks, and other stimulants that can temporarily increase concentration and give inaccurate results should not be consumed before the test.
3. Prepare the necessary information in advance – write down the situations in which it is most difficult for you to concentrate or show impulsivity. When the child comes for the examination, it may be helpful to discuss all previous observations with teachers or caregivers.
4. If possible, bring a school report or other support materials to help understand the extent and duration of the difficulties.
5. Be open and honest – the survey is conducted in order to understand your situation and find the best solutions. Accurate information will help you find the most appropriate support and therapy.
Informed preparation will help ensure a more accurate outcome and bring you closer to solutions that will help you or your child live and feel good!
