Counselling supports people in matters related to gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, relationships, and self-acceptance. Provided by Liis Veski, Estonian Academic Society of Sexology, Board Member.
Sexual counselling is a supportive and non-judgemental counselling service aimed at helping an individual or a couple better understand and address questions related to sexuality, intimacy, sexual health, and relationships. People may seek counselling, for example, when experiencing decreased sexual desire, insecurity, anxiety, feelings of shame or guilt, difficulties with closeness or intimacy, relationship problems, or painful experiences related to sexuality.
Counselling may also be helpful in addressing issues related to sexual trauma, previous negative experiences, identity, or self-definition. Sexual counselling provides a safe environment where clients can discuss their needs, boundaries, emotions, relationships, and sexual well-being. If needed, counselling may also explore how previous traumatic experiences, stress, mental health difficulties, or relationship dynamics can affect sexual life and overall well-being.
The service is suitable both for individual clients and for couples who wish to improve their communication, better understand each other’s needs, and find ways to restore closeness and trust.
